A Young Person Talks To Her Drinking Buddies To Dig Up More Information About Alcohol Addiction And Alcohol Abuse

Heather drank quite heavily on a regular basis with her drinking buddies. One Monday after school she started reflecting on her drinking behavior and the irresponsible drinking of her buddies. As a consequence of this, she respectfully asked all of her drinking buddies the following question: "what do we really know about alcohol abuse, binge drinking, alcohol poisoning, and alcoholism? Stated more precisely, how much alcohol addiction and alcohol abuse information do we really know? For our age, we clearly drink in an excessive and hazardous manner and I am beginning to wonder if all of us are headed for a life filled with alcohol-related difficulties in the not so distant future.

I think we need to go on the web and discover all that we can about binge drinking, alcohol poisoning, alcoholism, and alcohol abuse. And then if we have any relevant issues that we cannot understand after we do our Internet research, we can make an appointment at the student health center at the college and ask Nurse Wallen to explain things to us.

It should not come as a complete shock that what Heather articulated would trigger a heated discussion. As an illustration, her best friend since the ninth grade, Alexis, said that they are too healthy and too young to be worried about drinking to an excess. Another drinking pal named Alex claimed that since most college students drink there is no commonsensical reason why they should be any different. Another friend named Lily stated that all she wants to do is to have fun drinking with her friends. And still another pal named Dallas in fact agreed with Heather basically because both of his parents abused alcohol and both of his parents had a history of alcohol related difficulties.

Heather revealed to her buddies that she understood everything that they had said but that involving oneself in irresponsible and hazardous drinking at such a risky age really cannot be very healthy or conducive toward establishing a meaningful life. When a couple of her drinking friends asked what kind of alcohol difficulties Heather was discussing, Heather listed the following: alcohol-related problems like alcohol poisoning (which can be fatal in some instances), alcohol-related traffic accidents and fatalities, and alcoholism and alcohol-related diseases such as heart disease, cirrhosis of the liver, and cancer.

When Heather then mentioned that abusive and excessive drinking typically results in legal, relationship, school, and financial problems, some of her friends finally started to comprehend how widespread and how unhealthy abusive and unhealthy drinking can be. Without a doubt some of her friends became more open and started to tell how these alcohol dependency and alcohol abuse effects had negatively affected some of their friends and their parents.

After discussing some of the alcoholism and alcohol abuse problems that are related to abusive and careless drinking, the vast majority of her buddies seemed to agree to the idea about getting information on the web. They were, however, cautious about discussing their drinking circumstances with staff at school. As Heather heard this she thought to herself, "at least they are open to finding out more about their abusive and careless drinking. This is a very fine start."
