An Alcohol Dependent Person Goes To Alcohol Rehabilitation And Receives Alcohol Detoxification And Rehab For His Alcohol Dependency

Donald used to talk big to his drinking friends how he could remain employed at a challenging and full-time job and get inebriated almost every night. Sadly, after engaging in this destructive lifestyle for nearly two-and-a-half years, he started to manifest several alcohol related issues.

As an illustration, he had a very difficult time getting up for work because he felt so worn-out when he got up. Furthermore, virtually every morning Donald suffered through a painful hangover. Without a doubt, the mixture of his hangovers and his lack of get-up-and-go did not make it easy for him to get up and feel like he wanted to go to work. To make things worse, approximately a week ago he received his third drunk driving arrest in the past ten weeks.

To complicate things further, at work his last two performance appraisals were less than adequate. And lastly, his six-and-a-half-year relationship with his girlfriend had gone downhill due to his depression, lack of patience, angry outbursts, and his financial difficulties.

Though Donald was only twenty-nine years old, he frankly started to look like he was in his late forties. Sadly, this is what careless and irresponsible drinking can do to an individual. And in all candor he understood that he was suffering from the adverse consequences of alcohol addiction or alcohol abuse and that he was too young to give up his life to careless and irresponsible drinking. So initially he tried to drink in moderation. Regrettably, he soon understood that he lost all control after drinking his first alcoholic beverage. Since this was an incident that was repeated every time he went out to drink, this troubled him greatly. In fact, he began to wonder if he was exhibiting some of the stages of alcoholism.

After discussing his alcohol drinking problems and his careless and irresponsible drinking with his lady friend, he eventually decided to schedule an appointment to see his healthcare professional. When Donald saw his healthcare practitioner, he actually stated that he has been drinking in an excessive manner, that he may be manifesting behavior that is representative of the various alcoholism stages, and that he wants to refrain from drinking. He then declared that drinking responsibly and in moderation does not work well for him and consequently, he wants to learn how he can create an alcohol-free lifestyle.

Donald also told his healthcare practitioner about his depression and how this mental health issue was adversely influencing his relationship with his lady friend. His healthcare practitioner referred Donald to Doctor Venzel, an alcohol and drug addiction therapist, who motivated Donald to register in a drug and alcohol rehabilitation clinic as an in-patient for alcohol detoxification and alcohol treatment. Fortunately, Donald would also be able to get medical attention for his depression at this treatment center.

After six months of rigorous rehabilitation, Donald left the in-patient rehabilitation clinic and continued his recovery via going to local Alcoholics Anonymous meetings and via outpatient counseling. Encouraged to change his life in a more positive way, Donald joined a fitness center and started working out three or four times per week. Within nine months Donald was a new person. He was in shape, he was eating nutritious meals, he was not depressed anymore, and most significant of all, he remained sober for numerous months. He also did not resort to angry outbursts, he became more patient, and he became a more loving individual in his relationship with his lady friend. In short, getting and staying sober was the best decision Donald had ever made.
