The public schools work well for a number of individuals, but they don't work well for me. Essentially, public school is an experiment in faith & futility. They don't provide you with any vocation facts til late in the game, so you have no way of knowing that this is imperative for your life. Essentially, it always seemed like a waste of precious time to me. I was always bored stiff, sitting in the back of the classroom, & staring at the ceiling. I would behave badly, not pay good attention, and fall behind on my lessons. Lots of school-teachers thought I was idiotic, but I was just bored. If they had given me some cool niche job data & told me more about what I could do with my education when I grew up, I might have paid closer attention.
I am a pretty typical child in most respects. I want to earn money, I wish to live a great life, and I want to have a gorgeous wife & a nice house. Some-thing like niche niche career salary data could have truly gotten me interested. Unfortunately, we did not get any unusual niche jobs factual information til secondary school. By that time it was too late. In primary and middle school, we were supposed to pay good attention simply because we were told to.
When I ultimately had a job placement test in ninth grade, it was already somewhat later in the game. I found out that I was very excited about business & that it would make a good career for me. Unfortunately, however, I had been doing so badly in school for so long that it didn't matter. My counselor informed me that I should give up & set my goals lower, but that made me wish to work harder. I looked at the job path factual information, and I knew that I had a very long way to go, but I was willing to go there. If I had to spend a couple of years at the community college before I could get in to a university, I would do that.
Luckily, there was some very good job path facts at the counseling office. I discovered what I needed to know, what sort of grades I needed to get, and what my life in the future prospects were. A great thing about the United States is, even if you screw up the first time, you generally get a second chance. Between junior colleges & career placement services, there's always a way to advance yourself. If you get your vocation facts too late & fall behind, however, it takes a lot longer.
