Longing For A Job, But Feeling Victimized By The Job Market Devoid Of Hope (Is There Any Different Way)?
Ceaseless change in the job market is called "churning" and many unemployed people feel victimized. This phenomenon about jobs is made by many developments and every age seems to search for easy explanations about what's going on in the job market. Every age hunts for a new "devil" we can point to and blame, specifically if I am the one who's lost his job.
A few of the events in previous times which have been used to clarify job churn consist of new technologies and inventions that rob jobs from human beings, or the creation of big box stores that put mom-and-pop places out of business. The current "devil" is a not good economy, a puzzling turn of events being brought about by a variety of factors including mortgage failures, home foreclosures and financial misconduct among massive banks and Wall Street firms. To some extent, the American worker has a right to regard him or herself a victim of events. The truth of the circumstance, no matter how victimized you may feel, the bad guy or the devil is not going to protect you or make things far better.
I know a guy that has sent out well over 1000 resumes with not one single bite. It would seem that's all he knows to do in the current job climate. Still I've got to ask this man how many resumes will he have to send out before he realizes he is doing a churning of your own? You know the old saying: if you don't want to go bats from doing the same thing repeatedly and expecting different results, then do something else.
So what can a people do that's different? Sure, keep sending out those resumes, but remember this: not only are all jobs mortal, but ways of gaining employment also come and go and have a lifespan, which ends with, "The old way just doesn't work anymore."
Here are some suggestions:
- Install a video of yourself on a website promoting yourself and what you're capable of doing for others and in turn, profit.
- Talk to people, in other words, network, instead of only sending out resumes.
- Frequent job coaching groups and hear what others are doing different.
- Produce a clientele for a trade or service you can provide and become your own boss.
- Look at job positions in foreign countries.
- Instead of than looking for a job that will be full-time, with full benefits, conceive in terms of jobs that are more like gigs, that is, one time execution of a service or task.
A personal step of mine that's different to do is get a coach who can aid you contemplate outside the box and be more objective about your scenario. Some one else can frequently be more objective than we are about our predicament and thus contemplate more clearly about new means to get money in this current new age of employment.
