If you have never played a Rogue in World of Warcraft, then, seriously, what are you waiting for? The Rogue is among my absolute favorite character types and I have a feeling it'll be one of yours as well.
For anybody new to WOW, or someone who is soloing, a Rogue is a great selection. They have a lot of built in skills and abilities that make them easier to use by themselves. To start with an obvious one--You can Stealth up to enemies and Sap them, Pickpocket them, and then kill them, using your awesome Dual Wield and super fast combinations! Also, for the soloers out there, the Rogue has some awesome skills that allow you to get away quick if you are getting ganked, including Sprint and Vanish-which is great if in the middle of a battle you need to bandage!
Also, Rogues simply have some of the most awesome skills, I mean what's cooler than lockpicking and pickpocketing?
If you are looking to use a Rogue Leveling Guide, then be aware that you may not get to experience everything in the game, plus you may not be able to learn every skill/profession in the book. This is all right, it is all in the name of leveling as fast as possible. You'll be able to do all the stuff you missed and more when you are a level 80;)
Rogue Professions-Rogues work well with a variety of professions. It really depends on what you want to do with your Rogue. If you are just out to make gold, then the best thing for you is probably a Gatherer. With gathering, you select two of the three gathering professions (Mining/Skinning/Herbalism) and simply sell everything you get. For a Rogue the best two would be Mining/Skinning because of buffs you get from them. Other good combos for a Rogue are Skinning/Leatherworking to make your own armor, Mining/Engineering, to make toys and weapons. Herbalism/Alchemy is great for creating and selling potions.
If using a Rogue Leveling Guide, you will expect to level more quickly than many other character classes. This is because you will die less and be able to kill things which are a higher level as well as do higher level quests, therefore getting more xp.
When searching for your Rogue guide, make sure that you get one which is in a format that you like. Many of these guides come in an ebook format, which doesn't work very well when you are trying to play the game and alt-tab back and forth to see what you're doing. The same problems with video. The ideal kind, I think, are the in-game add-on guides. Just be sure that they comply with Blizzard rules and they are intelligent. This means that they are aware of which quests you have done already and adjust accordingly.
